Real Christmas
Being from South Texas, we don't get much real winter to speak of. A few chilly days, then we're back in the 70's. And never do we get snow. With this in mind, we decided to do things really different this year and packed up the kids and flew to Breckenridge, Colorado for the week of Christmas.
Since our 7 year old boys still "Believe" for now, we wanted to go somewhere that really felt like a winter wonderland. Something magical. This was the trip of a lifetime for us. We were knee deep in snow for days. To be riding in a real horse drawn sleigh at twilight on Christmas Eve, with the silhouette of the Rocky Mountains in the back ground and jingle bells ringing from the horses, was the only gift I really wanted.
There were experiences and moments we will never forget. And, oh yes, Santa does come even if you're on vacation during Christmas. Part of our fun was buying a little tree and decorating it with precious home made decorations like popcorn strung on pipecleaner tinsel and paper chains. The star was cut from one of our take-out food containers and covered with aluminum foil. Perfect.
The views in Breckenridge are completely inspiring. On a simple walk through the forest across the street from our condo I saw images of nature that will inspire my decorating at home now that the Christmas decorations are packed away.
Stay tuned and I'll share the outcome of that inspiration with you.
Happy New Year!
