Rooms With a New Purpose

It's so rewarding and fun to help a client figure out what to do with non-functioning rooms. The "formal" living room just isn't needed for our casual lives and most times neither is the formal dining room. Over time these rooms become catch-all's for work, home and school clutter or even worse go completely unused. That's valuable space! We want comfortable rooms to gather with family and friends, maybe watch the game or enjoy close friends and their kids, and be comfortable.

One client is excited by the idea of four chairs and an ottoman in her front room which adjoins her dining room. This set up is ideal for socializing or entertaining. Here are some images we're using for inspiration:

Isn't this a great  alternative to a sofa and loveseat? And an ottoman offers even more additional seating or serving opportunities.

Another client is creating a multi-purpose room for her family. So far we've added custom built-ins which include a computer desk, painted the walls with Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter, painted her french doors black and replaced her ceiling fan with a simple black fan. Black hardware will be added this week and then onto seating, a rug, a gallery wall and some pretty accessories.
